Robert Marshall

U.S. Veteran

ROBERT MARSHALL died August 5, 2012 at Presbyterian Manor, Clay Center, KS at the age of 90. He was born on April 20, 1922 in Arapahoe, Nebraska the son of Harry Marshall and Martha Morse.

Robert was raised in Clay Center and graduated from CCCHS in 1940. He served in the US Navy during WWII in the Asiatic-Pacific region. Robert was a 2nd Class Petty Officer of the Engineering Department aboard the USS Washington battleship. Robert married Irene Spellman on April 5, 1944. He operated Marshall Electric with his father and brother for many years and worked at Gilmore-Tatge for 10 years before retiring. Robert was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where he served as deacon, Kiwanis, Elks, American Legion and was a volunteer fireman. Irene preceded him in death on December 5, 2011. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Reynold and a sister, Evelyn McDonald.

Survivors include:

Daughter: Deeann and husband Larry Blattner, Dodge City, KS

Son: Doug and wife Vicki Marshall, Brookville KS

Grandchildren: 5 Grandchildren and 9 Great-grandchildren

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at 10:30 AM at the First Presbyterian Church in Clay Center, Kansas .

Officiating the service will be Rev. James Byers.

Burial will be at the Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, Kansas.

Visitation will be held on 3-8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. The family will greet friends from 4:30 - 6PM
