AILENE LEONA MINTURN, 100 died November 12, 2014 at Medicalodge in Clay Center, KS. She was born on May 28, 1914 in Clay Center, KS. The daughter of Axel and Jennie (Stromwall) Carlson.
Ailene was raised in Clay Center and graduated from CCCHS in 1931. She attended Kansas State Teachers College. Ailene married William Beall on April 22, 1944. He preceded her in death on September 3, 1959. Following William's death, Ailene filled his term in the Kansas Senate becoming the second woman to serve in a state legislative body. She married Rev. Earl Minturn on January 2, 1978 and he preceded her in death on March 28, 1995. Ailene was a member of St Paul's Episcopal Church, Member and past president of B.P.W., Order of Eastern Star, Clay Center Garden Club, Nea Study Club, past-President of the Native Daughters of America, State Board of Education, State Board for Vocational Education, Red Cross, Clay County Court House Preservation Committee and the American Legion Auxiliary. She is preceded in death by parents, 2 brothers, 1 sister, 1 step-daughter.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at 10:30 AM at the St Paul's Episcopal Church in Clay Center, KS
Officiating the service will be The. Rev. Lavonne Seifert and The Rev. Susan Sawyer
Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, KS
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 17, 2014 from 3-8PM at Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home
