Alene Marie Anderson (Collini), 94, died Friday, January 8, 2016 at Covenant Village of Colorado, Westminster, Colo. Alene was born August 12, 1921 in Buffalo, New York, daughter of Mary Collini. She grew up in Buffalo, NY, and graduated from South Park High School. While attending North Park College in Chicago, IL, she met Leland Anderson from Clay Center, KS. They married in 1945 and worked as missionaries in DRC Congo for 30 years teaching in local primary and secondary schools. From 1975-1996 they lived in Clay Center, KS where Leland was pastor for the Clay Center and Alert Covenant Churches. She supported church outreach work and then her community after Leland’s retirement by volunteering for Meals on Wheels and Hospice care. Alene received her BA from Kansas State University in 1980. They retired to Covenant Village of Colorado in Westminster in 1996. She is preceded in death by her husband, Leland. Survivors include children Steven Anderson and daughter-in-law Colette, Gordon Anderson, Lynn Anderson and husband Jim Stevens, Sally Anderson; grandchildren Lumana Seide and husband Welson, Edward Anderson and Josephine Locke, Tanya Anderson; great-grandchildren Azariah, Amyrah, and Zachary Seide, and Seven Anderson. The Memorial Service for Alene will be Thursday, January 14, at 3:00 pm at the Chapel of Covenant Village of Colorado. Memorials may be made to Covenant Church World Missions “Congo schools and church construction”: Covenant Village of Colorado 9125 Yarrow Street Westminster, CO 80021 A private family burial will be held at a later date at Garfield Center Cemetery, Clay County.
