Allen Baxter

J. ALLEN BAXTER died January 21, 2012 at Park Villa Nursing Home, Clyde, KS at the age of 83. He was born on February 10, 1928 in Clay County Kansas, the son of Alfred and Bernice (Hemphill) Baxter. Allen married Myrtle Blomberg on April 9, 1950 in Miltonvale, KS. She survives of the home in Clay Center. Allen enjoyed his livelihood of farming, soil conservation, road and bridge construction, delivering RV's, working with his son Gerald at Porter Equipment, and as an owner/operator of a trucked leased to Barry Trucking unitil his retirement. In his retirement he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, helping his children do projects around their homes and helping others. Survivors include: Wife: Myrtle Baxter, Clay Center, KS Son: Gerald and wife Ruth Baxter, Clay Center, KS Son: Darrell and wife Evangeline Baxter, Oskaloosa, IA Daughter: Myrna Baxter and her care giver Carolyn Herrs , Olathe, KS Brother: Ben Baxter, Clay Center, KS Brother: Roy and wife Mildred Baxter, Clay Center, KS Brother: Warren and wife Sharon Baxter, Shawnee, OK Grandchildren: 6 Grandchildren and 1 Great Grandchild. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at 10:00 AM at the Wesleyan Church in Clay Center, Kansas . Burial will be at the Swedish Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Clay County, Kansas. Visitation will be held on Friday 3-8 PM at the funeral home Memorials can be made to Clay Center Wesleyan Church c/o funeral home.
