Alta Mae Conner

ALTA MAE CONNER died October 27, 2009 at Clay County Medical Center, Clay Center, KS at the age of 97. ALTA MAE CONNER was born on April 17, 1912 in Soldier, Kansas the daughter of Walter Johnson and Elsie Starr. She was raised in Soldier, Kansas and graduated from Soldier High School in 1931. She married Charles Conner on November 7, 1933 in Soldier, Kansas and he preceded her on February 7, 1994. They moved to Clay Center, Kansas in 1939. She worked in the Clay County Clerks office for 5 years. She was a member of the Clay Center United Methodist Church, V.F.W. Auxillary, Leisure Club and the Camping Club. She was preceded in death by a sister Eunice Sproul and a brother Keith Johnson. Survivors include: Son: Dale and wife Dorothy Conner, Gladstone, MO Son: Charles and wife Jan Conner, San Antonio, TX Daughter: Donna and husband Gary Shaver, Manhattan, KS Daughter: Leanna and husband Bill Steward, Clay Center, KS Grandchildren: 6 grandchildren, 2 great-grandsons, 6 great granddaughters and 1 great-great-granddaughter Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 31, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the Soldier Cemetery in Soldier, Kansas. Officiating the service will be Rev. Larry Myers. Burial will be at the Soldier Cemetery, Soldier, Kansas. There will be no visitation. Memorials can be made to Talking Book Service, c/o the funeral home.
