Alta Grace Murrin

ALTA MURRIN, 89 died September 21, 2014 at her residence in Clay Center, Kansas. She was born on June 12, 1925 in Duke, OK. The daughter of Frank and Christine (Smith) Dickinson. Alta was raised in Lawton, OK and attended school in Katie, OK and Lawton. She worked on her family's farm during WWII. Alta married Melvin Murrin in 1943, they made their home in California. Melvin preceded her in death in 1979. Alta moved to Clay Center in 1980 and she worked for the Wakefield Arboretum for many years and at Medicalodge. She attended the Clay Center Christian Church. She is preceded in death by her parents, 3 sons; Franklin, Gary and Jimmy Murrin and a daughter, Carolyn Smith. Survivors: Daughter: Kathy Lavine and companion Gary Harris, Clay Center, KS Daughter: Waunita and husband Tim Clark, Clay Center, KS Son: Kenner Wheeler, Clay Center, KS 16 Grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and many great-great-grandchildren Sister: Joyce Jackson, TX Graveside funeral services will be held on Friday, October 3, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Greenwood Cemetery in Clay Center, KS. Officiating the service will be Pastor Kenner Wheeler. Memorials may be made to the St. Joseph Indian School or Meadowlark Hospice c/o the funeral home.
