ANNETTA MAY HAYES died July 21, 2009 at The Cedars, McPherson, KS at the age of 84. She was born on December 28, 1924 in Wakefield, Kansas the Daughter of Fred C. and Rose Peach (Budden) Myers. She was raised in Wakefield, Kansas and graduated from Wakefield High School in 1942. She completed Normal Schooling and taught three years in Wakefield area rural schools. She married Ted R. Hayes on February 19, 1944 and he preceded her on May 19, 1994. She was a bookkeeper at the Alida and Wakefield Co-op elevators, clerked for the Farmers and Merchants Bank and served as the curator of the Geary County Museum. She worked over 30 years with the Wakefield Museum serving many years as president of the board. She was a lifetime member of the Wakefield United Methodist Church, VFW Auxillary and past president of the Wakefield Library Club. She is also preceded by 3 brothers, 2 sisters and two grandchildren. Survivors include: Daughter: Susan and husband Jerry Meng, McPherson, KS Daughter: Teresa and husband Keith Karmann, Yates Center, KS Daughter: Kay and husband David Fehlman, Wakefield, KS Son: Ted and wife Dana Hayes, Jr., Wichita, KS Grandchildren: 11 grand and 16 great-grand Funeral Services will be held on Friday, July 24, 2009 at 10:30 AM at the United Methodist Church in Wakefield, Kansas Officiating the service will be Rev. Diana Stewart. Burial will be at the Timber Creek Cemetery, Wakefield, Kansas. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 23rd from 6:00 to 8:00pm at the Wakefield United Methodist Church Memorials can be made to Wakefield United Methodist Church or the Wakefield Museum c/o the funeral home.
