Bernice Rieger

BERNICE M. RIEGER died March 29, 2011 at Clay County Medical Center, Clay Center, KS at the age of 92. She was born on October 23, 1918 in Palmer KS, the daughter of William and Marie (Pruser) Hornbostel. Bernice was raised in the Palmer community. She married Fred Rieger on September 15, 1941. Bernice worked as a childcare provider for local doctors and attorneys. Fred preceded her in death on July 18, 2000. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheeran Church and the Friendship Circle. Bernice is also preceded by a son Michael, and 2 brothers. Survivors include: Daughter: Connie and her husband, Jon Griffiths, Clay Center, KS Son: James and his wife, Beverly Rieger, Clay Center, KS Daughter: Judith and her husband, Jim Fine, Pueblo West, CO Daughter: Joann and her husband, Rolly Sorrentino, Wheat Ridge, CO Brother: Loren Hornbostel, Clay Center, KS Grandchildren: 9 Grand, 3 Step-Grand, 14 Great-Grand and 12 Step-Great-Grand Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2011 at at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Clay Center, Kansas. Officiating the service will be Pastor Paul Tessaro. Burial will be at the Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, Kansas. Visitation will be held on 3-8 PM Friday, April 1, 2011 at the funeral home. The family will greet friends from 5:30-7 PM Memorials can be made to may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church c/o the funeral home.
