Bert Sherbert

BERT SHERBERT died November 27, 2008 at Golden Livingcenter, Wakefield, KS at the age of 93. He was born on June 6, 1915 in Clay County, Kansas the son of William and Emma (Lister) Sherbert. He was raised in the Broughton Community until age 7 when he moved with his parents to Miltonvale, KS. Bert married Opal Bisnett on March 12, 1938, they made their home in the Broughton Community. He worked at the Broughton Garage and then for Alsop Sand Company. He later worked construction at Ft. Riley before starting his own construction business in Wakefield, KS. He also served as sexton for the Highland Cemetery in Wakefield. Opal preceded him in death on October 28, 2002. He is also preceded by a son, Jackie, 3 brothers and 1 sister. Survivors include: Son: Maynord and wife Mildred Sherbert, Wakefield, KS Son: Bill and wife LaDonna Sherbert, Marion, KS Grandchildren: 5 Grand, 10 Great-grand & 9 Great-Great-grand Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at 11:00 AM at the Wakefield Chapel in Wakefield, Kansas. Officiating the service will be Rev. Todd Britt. Burial will be at the Highland Cemetery, Wakefield, Kansas. Visitation will be held on 5-8 PM Monday at the Wakefield Funeral Home Memorials can be made to Wakefield Museum
