BESSIE ALTA VAN DER STELT, 97 died August 20, 2007 at Chapman Valley Manor Chapman,KS. She was born on January 14, 1910 in Longford,Kansas the daughter of Albert LeRoy and Addie Oleva (Miller) Vinzant. She was raised in the Longford Community, moved to New Mexico with her family when she was 6 and returned to Longford. Her family then moved to the Timber Creek community near Wakefield and she graduated from Wakefield Rural High School in 1929. She married James Van Der Stelt on February 22, 1932. She worked at the Wakefield Telephone Company, as a nurses aide at the Clay Center Hospital and as a certified nurses aide at Wakefield Rehabilitation Center retiring when she was 81 years of age. James preceded her in death on June 22, 1999. She was a member of the Wakefield United Methodist Church. She is also preceded by 1 son, Robert, a daughter-in-law, 2 brothers, 2 sisters and 1 grandson and two great grandchildren.

Funeral Services:Saturday,August 25, 2007 at 11:00 AM at the Wakefield Funeral Home in Wakefield, Kansas.

Visitation:6-8 PM Friday at the Wakefield Funeral Home and 10:00 am until service time Saturday.
