BETTY MAE REED, 86 died January 7, 2015 at her home in Oak Hill, KS. She was born on September 23, 1928 in Ottawa County, KS. The daughter of Ernest and Ida May (Geist) Phelps. After graduating high school Betty taught country school and worked for Westinghouse for 17years in Salina, KS. She married Clayton Reed on January 2, 1946 and he preceded her on November 7, 2010. They farmed in Ottawa County and raised cattle. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Rebecca's Lodge. She is also preceded in death by her parents, son Brian Dale, grandson Clayton James (C.J.) Reed, granddaughter Carrie (Reed) Smith, brother Marshall, and Sister Grace (Phelps) Kaiser. Survivors: Daughter: Dana (Ted) Hayes, Wakefield, KS Son: Randy (Juanita Wilkinson) Reed, Abilene, KS Son: Mark (Jan) Reed, Silver Lake, KS Brother: Wayne (Melvajean) Phelps, Hutchinson, KS Brother: Jim Phelps, Wakefield, KS Grandsons: Casey Reed, Minneapolis, KS Travis (Kelli Kennedy) Reed, Ft. Lauderdale, FL Ryan (Jamie) Hayes, Abilene, KS Granddaughters: Wendy Reed (Scott) Sexton, Silver Lake, KS Tara Hayes (Rob) Falconio, Wichita, KS Julie Hayes (Kyle) Murphy, Wakefield, KS Great grandchildren: Rico and Catira Smith; Drake and Alexandra Sexton; Jessica and Jenna Hayes; Grant, Andrew and Cane Falconio; and Dylan and Konner Murphy. Liberty Cemetery, Ottawa County, KS Visitation will be held on Monday, January 12 from 4-7 at the funeral home in Clay Center. Memorials: Oak Hill Presbyterian Church or Mt. Liberty Cemetery Fund c/o the funeral home.
