Beulah Larue

d. November 21, 2013

Beulah Mae LaRue was born to John and Jessie (Watt) Oglevie on July 30, 1919 in Northbranch, Kansas, the youngest of eight children. She grew up there on the family farm, attending Star Creek School, District 125, for grade school. Her high school years were divided between Northbranch Academy and then Miltonvale Academy, graduating from Miltonvale Academy in 1938. She taught elementary school for eight years. On August 23, 1945, she married Arnold Elmer LaRue at her family’s home in Northbranch. Beulah accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior during her youth at the Wesley Center Church and her whole life was deeply impacted by her faith in Christ. She served alongside her pastor-husband for 21 years as a partner in ministry in Wesleyan Churches in South Dakota, North Dakota, Wyoming and Nebraska. It was the highlight of her life. Throughout her life, Beulah enjoyed gardening, baking, and hosting the many people who enjoyed meals at their table. In 1978, she and Arnold moved to Bloomington, Nebraska, due to Arnold’s failing health. During those years, Beulah worked as a nurse’s aide at a care facility in Alma. Diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimers disease, Arnold went to be with the Lord on January 19, 1997. In August of 1991, Beulah moved to Miltonvale, Kansas, to be near her sister Faye Oglevie. Until their deaths, Beulah had enjoyed a particularly close relationship with her two sisters, Faye and Bertha (Oglevie) Hansen. Arnold and Beulah’s first child, Gary Lee LaRue, was born on February 4, 1948 in Clay Center, Kansas. Gary passed away on April 4, 1956 with a condition caused by high nitrate content of well water, which robbed the blood of oxygen and caused a cerebral hemorrhage at two months of age, leaving him in a vegetative state until his death. Their daughter, Cynthia Marie, was born on August 9, 1955 in Clay Center, and married Tim Pusey on April 15, 1978. Their son Dennis Edward was born on February 18, 1959 in Watertown, South Dakota, and married Rebecca Hornback on June 10, 1979. Beulah and Arnold had six grandchildren: Jessica (LaRue) Jackson, Justin Kendrick, Ryan LaRue, Krista (Pusey) Patten, Kara (Pusey) Gress, and Jeff LaRue. Beulah had seven great-grandchildren: Annabelle, Katelyn, Ava Lynn, Collins, Brynlee, Jenna Lee, and Ella (plus one due to arrive anytime!). Beulah spent the last five years of her life at the home of her son Dennis and daughter-in-law Becky in Durham, North Carolina. They gave her lots of love and attention. She passed away quietly in her sleep early on Thursday, November 21, 2013, at the age of 94. And there was on that morning a wonderful reunion in heaven with her parents, her husband Arnold, her son Gary, her seven siblings, and many friends she had enjoyed during her lifetime. As the Apostle Paul described, she had fought the good fight, she had finished the race, and she had kept the faith. Services are pending and will be announced later Memorial gifts to Bethel Faith Home (via Miltonvale Wesleyan Church).
