Burton "Sam" Knox

BURTON SAM D. KNOX died February 28, 2009 at Community Care Inc., Clifton, KS at the age of 86. BURTON SAM D. KNOX was born on December 10, 1922 in Clifton Kansas, the son of Phalas Knox and Edna Laird. He grew up in Clifton and Graduated from Clifton High School in 1940. He married Erlene Kraft on August 29, 1947 and she survives of the home. He attended Emporia State University and recieved a B.A. Degree. He was in the Army Reserve during college and went on active duty from 1942-1943. He taught school in Clifton, Jennings, Cedar Point and Beeler. He went to work for Northern Natural Gas in 1952 and worked there for 32 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and American Legion of Clifton and the Faith Untied Church Presbyterian. He is preceded by one brother and an infant daughter. Survivors include: Wife: Erlene Knox, Clifton, KS Son: Larry and wife Sandy Knox, Colleyville, TX Son: Curtis Knox, Clay Center, KS Daughter: Wanda and husband Lindy Knoettgen, Clifton, KS Grandchildren: 8 Grandchildren and 6 Great Grandchildren Funeral Services will be held on Monday, March 1, 2009 at 10:00 AM at the Faith United Church Presbyterian in Clifton, Kansas. Officiating the service will be Pastor Franklyn Schroeder. Burial will be at the Clifton IOOF Cemetery, Clifton, Kansas. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 1 from 3-5pm at the Turner Chapel in Clifton ks Memorials can be made to Church or Clifton Ball Assocation c/o the funeral home.
