Charles Wayne Canfield

CHARLES WAYNE CANFIELD, 99 died June 23, 2014 in Clay Center, KS. He was born on December 22, 1914 in Miltonvale, KS. The son of William and Sophia (King) Canfield. Wayne was raised in a farm near Clifton, KS. He graduated from Clay Center Community High School in 1933. Wayne served in the US Army during WWII. Following the war, he returned to the Clifton area in 1949 and worked for Northern Natural Gas Co. until his retirement in 1977. In 1981, Wayne operated an ice business until 1991. He served as mayor and councilman for the City of Vining, was a member and past commander of the Clifton American Legion, Clyde VFW and 40 and 8 Voiture #1261 of Manhattan. He is preceded in death by parents, 3 sisters and 2 brothers. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2014 at 10:00 AM at the Turner Funeral Chapel in Clifton, KS Officiating the service will be Pastor FrankLyn Schroeder Burial will be in the Miltonvale Cemetery, Miltonvale, KS Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 from 5-7 PM at Turner Funeral Chapel Memorials: Clifton American Legion #227
