Charlotte Gilbert

CHARLOTTE W. GILBERT, 95 died June 19, 2012 at the Presbyterian Manor, Clay Center, KS. She was born on April 12, 1917 in Clay County, KS. The daughter of John and Eleanor (Martin) Fowles. Charlotte graduated from CCCHS in 1934. She married Charles Gilbert on October 2, 1943 in Pampa, Texas. They lived on a farm in the Green community until retiring to Clay Center in 1977. Charles preceded her in death on June 7, 1979. She was a member of the Clay Center First Baptist Church, Green E.H.U., and the Clay County Election Board. She attended the Hayes United Methodist Church. Charlotte was also preceded in death by two sisters, four brothers and two great-grandchildren. Survivors: Son: Ronald and wife, Pat Gilbert, Clay Center, KS Son: Gary Gilbert, Clay Center, KS Daughter: Charla and husband, Bob Kice, Wichita, KS Daughter: Eleanor and husband, Charlie Sharp, Salina, KS Brother: Orrin and wife Wanda Fowles, Clay Center, KS Brother: Wilbur and wife Pat Fowles, Clay Center, KS Daughter-in Law: Karen Gilbert, Clay Center, KS Brother in Law: Floyd Gilbert, The Villages, FL Grandchildren: Justin and Stephanie Gilbert, Shelley and Bob Turner, Janelle and Brian Rieger, Karlene Gilbert and Shane Douglas, Kim and Keith Adams, Todd Kice, Beth and Jay Custard, Scott Gilbert, Greg Gilbert, Amy Gilbert, and Eddie Vering. Great Grandchildren: Josh and Adam Gilbert, Abby and Aidan Turner, Julia and Jacob Rieger; Coleman, Ethan, Jack and Nick Adams; Sam, Charlie, and Eliza Custard. Funeral Services will be Friday, June 22, 2012 at 10:30 AM at the First Baptist Church in Clay Center, Kansas. Officiating the service will be Pastor Jim Beck Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, KS. Visitation will be held from 3-8 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church or the Clay Center Presbyterian Manor and can be sent in care of the funeral home.
