DALE NEWELL died December 17, 2010 at Medicalodge, Clay Center, KS at the age of 85. Dale was born on December 13, 1925 in Wakefield, Kansas the son of Horace George Newell and Daisy Lena Exley. Dale was raised in the Wakefield, KS. area and attended school at Clark, Mt. Olive and Wakefield Schools. He married Anna Mae Avery on October 18, 1947 at the Congregational Church in Wakefield. He farmed in the Wakefield area all his life and was the owner and operator of Newell Truckline for 32 years. He was a past board member of the Wakefield Congregational Church and was currently a member of the Milford Congregational Church. He was a past member of the Wakefield Lions Club, Kansas Purebred Sheep Association and the Wakefield COOP Board, and a current member of the Republican Valley Farm Museum. He was preceded in death by a sister, Lucile Newell Warfield and a brother, Dean Newell. Survivors include: Wife: Anna Mae Newell, Wakefield, KS Son: Marc Newell, Wakefield, KS Daughter: Marcia and husband Dennis Gfeller, Junction City, KS Daughter: Teresa Newell, Fargo, ND Daughter: Rita Jo and husband Ladd Braden, Wakefield, KS Grandchildren: 3 grandsons, Matt Gfeller, Jared Gfeller, and Steve Braden. In accordance with Dale’s wishes, Graveside services will be held on Tuesday,December 21, 2010 at 2:00 PM at the Highland Cemetery in Wakefield, Kansas. A fellowship and celebration of his life will follow at the Madura Church’s Comfort House, Wakefield. Minister: Pastor Stew Smith and Pastor Todd Britt There will be no visitation Memorials can be made to Wakefield Farm Museum, Milford Congregational Church or Meadowlark Hospice in care of the Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home.
