Danial Duane Alquist

DANIAL D ALQUIST died June 19, 2013 at Park Villa Nursing Home, Clyde, KS at the age of 71. He was born on October 14, 1941 in Clay Center KS, the son of Sheldon Alquist and Frances Dunlap. Danial was raised in Clifton and graduated from Clifton High School in 1959. He served in the US Army. Dan married Carolyn Blackburn on November 17,1962. in Chicago where Dan began working for Bell Telephone. He later transferred to Kansas City and retired from Southwestern Bell in 1991. They returned to Clifton where he owned and operated the Clifton Newspaper until 1996. Dan was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and the American Legion Post #227 in Clifton where he was Past Commander. He is preceded in death by his parents and step-father, Jim Haas. Survivors include Wife: Carolyn Alquist, Clifton, KS Son: Mike and wife Anna Alquist, Concordia, KS Daughter: Kristin Alquist, Clifton, KS Daughter: Trish and husband Paul James, Burleson, TX Sister: Colleen and husband Dean Gill, Newton, KS Brother: Galen and wife JoDee Haas, Clifton, KS Sister: Connie and husband Mike Street, Lincoln, KS 4 Grandchildren and 1 Great-Grandchildren Funeral Services will be held on Monday, June 24, 2013 at 10:30 AM at the Faith United Church Presbyterian in Clifton, Kansas. Burial will be at the Pleasant View Cemetery, Vining, Kansas. Visitation will be held on 2-4 PM Sunday at Turner Funeral Home Memorials can be made to Clifton Ambulance Service
