Darwin Johnson

DARWIN M. JOHNSON, 79, died October 15, 2014 in Enterprise, Kansas . He was born on August 30, 1935 in Clifton, KS. The son of Melvin and Geneva (Beeson) Johnson. Darwin was raised in the Idana area and attended Idana schools. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was an MP during the Korean War. Darwin returned from the war and moved to St. Joseph, MO where he married Karen Mayhew, they later divorced. He worked as a mechanic for Caterpillar for 31 years. After retiring in 1986, Darwin moved back to Kansas. Survivors: Daughter: Sandy DeOlivera, TN Son: Steve and wife Barb Johnson, Wasilla, AK Daughter: Sharri and husband Ricky Holland, Oak Grove, LA Son: Stanley and wife Kim Johnson, Abilene, KS Son: Spencer and wife Dorrie Johnson, Clay Center, KS many grandchildren and many great-grandchildren Sister: Darlene Sykes, Denton, TX A celebration of life service will take place at 2:00PM Saturday, October 18, 2014 at the Clay Center American Legion. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to the Darwin Johnson Memorial Fund to be designated later by the family and can be sent in care of the funeral home.
