Daryl Schafer

DARYL DONALD SCHAFER died March 5, 2009 at 729 Court, Clay Center, KS at the age of 76. He was born on July 28, 1932 in Washington County KS, the son of Herman Schafer and Amanda Moorman. He was raised in the Palmer, Kansas area. He was a Army veteran of the Korea War. After the service he was a union carpenter. Daryl was married to Elaine Desmarais on February 7, 1979 and she preceded him on November 1, 1990. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Clay Center. Survivors include: Companion: Shirley Young, Clay Center, KS Step-Son: David and wife Ann Desmarais, Clay Center, KS Step-Son: Jamie Desmarais, Wichita, KS Step-Son: Kevin and wife Nancy Young, Tuscon, AZ Step-Son: Kerk and wife Lorrainne Young, Tuscon, AZ Brother: Edwert and wife Jackie Schafer, Clay Center, KS Grandchildren: 13 grand and 6 great-grandchildren Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2009 at 11:00 AM at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Clay Center, Kansas. Officiating the service will be Pastor Paul Tessaro. Burial will be at the Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, Kansas. Visitation will be held on 3-8 PM Wendesday at the funeral home Memorials can be made to Clay Center Relay For Life or the church c/o the funeral home
