David C. McMullen, 72, of Clay Center, Kansas died on Sunday, May 18, 2025 at his residence. He was born on March 2, 1953 in Kansas City, Kansas, the son of Maurice and Dorothy (Scott) McMullen.
David grew up and attended schools in Shawnee, Kansas, graduating from St. Joseph’s High School in 1972. He attended Kansas State University, graduating in 1978 with his B.S. in Architecture. David worked for Black and Veatch and as an independent contractor in Colorado. He then went to work for Kansas State University as an architecht/project manager until retiring in 2018. David was a project manager for the Bill Snyder Family Stadium addition. He is preceded in death by his father, Maurice McMullen.
David is survived by his wife, Sandi McMullen of Clay Center, Kansas; 3 stepdaughters, Deanna Scobee of Clay Center, Kansas, Samantha Martinez of Grand Junction, Colorado and Chantel Martinez of Grand Junction, Colorado; 7 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; mother, Dorothy McMullen of Overland Park, Kansas; brother, Brandon and wife, Dianne of Olathe, Kansas; 3 sisters, Kim and husband, Eric Meade of San Antonio, Texas, Karyl and husband Scott Elliott of Shawnee, Kansas and Kendra LeCluyse of Lenexa, Kansas.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
There will be no visitation.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the David McMullen Memorial Fund, to be designated later, and can be sent in care of the funeral home.
