DELLA MARIE PETERSON died November 20, 2009 at Mercy Health Center College Ave, Manhattan, KS at the age of 101. DELLA MARIE PETERSON was born on June 2, 1908 in Clay County Kansas, the daughter of Edward McMurry and Olive Stewart. She was raised in the Idana area and Graduated from CCCHS in 1926. She graduated from Emporia State in 1965. She taught school in rural Clay County and in Clay Center, Ames, Linn and Morganville. She married Herbert Peterson on April 3, 1937 and he preceded her on December 7, 1970. She lived and farmed with her husband south of Clifton. She retired in 1973. She was a lifetime member of the Sigma-Sigma-Sigma Social Sorority, Faith United Church Presbyterian and the Clifton Senior Citizens. She is also preceded by daughters, Linda and Vickie, son Edward, 3 brothers and 1 sister. Survivors include: Son: Bill and wife Bryn Peterson, Clifton, KS Daughter: Anne and husband Robert Cash, Hiawatha, KS Grandchildren: 5 Grandchildren and 11 Great Grandchildren Funeral Services will be held on Friday, November 27, 2009 at 10:00 AM at the Faith United Church Presbyterian in Clifton, Kansas. Officiating the service will be Pastor Russell Sizemore. Burial will be at the Clifton IOOF Cemetery, Clifton, Kansas. Visitation will be held on will be held from 5-7PM Thursday, November 26, 2009 at the Faith United Church Presbyterian in Clifton. Memorials can be made to Clifton Senior Center, Clifton Ambulance Center or the church.
