DENEY GEIST died April 2, 2013 at Via Christi St. Francis, Wichita, KS at the age of
74. He was born on January 26, 1939 in Miltonvale Kansas, the son of Elmo and Maxine
(Reynolds) Geist.
Deney was raised in Morganville and graduated from Morganville High School. He
earned a degree in engineering from Kansas State University. Deney married Janet Carlson on
August 31, 1958 and she preceded him in death on May 4, 2006. Deney worked for the Iowa
Department of Transportation, as an engineer for the city of Kansas City, Missouri, at a private
engineering firm in Tucson, AZ and as the city engineer for Junction City. Deney then worked
for the firm Burns and McDonald throughout the United States and for 2M C.H. Hill Engineering
in Bankok and other countries. He was a member of APWA and the president of the Kansas
chapter of ASCE. Deney was also preceded in death by his father, Elmo and a brother in-law,
Max Carlson.

Graveside Services will be held on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at 10:00 AM at the Swedish
Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Clay County, Kansas.
Officiating the service will be Rev. Larry Meyers.
Burial will be at the Swedish Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Clay Center, Kansas.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, 9 AM until noon at the funeral home.
Memorials can be made to may be made to Kidney Foundation or the Heart Association and sent
in care of the funeral home.
