Dolores Heigele, 97 died September 24, 2018 in Clay Center, KS. She was born on November 14, 1920 in Clay County, the daughter of John and Elsie (Hamme) Runnalls. Dolores was raised in the Longford area. She attended Walker Grade school and graduated from Longford High School in 1938. Dolores took normal training following high school and taught at Somerset school for one year. She married Louis “Vernie” Heigele on August 14, 1940. They made their home and farmed in the Longford area before moving to the Presbyterian Manor in February 2008. Vernie preceded her in death on September 18, 2008. Dolores was a lifelong member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Longford, where she taught Sunday School, was active in UMW and served as the church historian.
