Donald L. Close

DONALD L. CLOSE died May 1, 2013 at Medicalodge, Clay Center, KS at the age of 93. He was born on December 1, 1919 in Clay County, Kansas the son of Lemuel and Minnie (Swenson) Close. Don was raised in Clay County and attended Clay Center Community High School. He farmed in the Union Township. He married Lois Algren on November 25, 1947 and she survives of the home. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, serving as an Elder, Broughton School Board and Union Township Board. He was a WWII Navy Veteran. He is preceded in death by a son, Michael, one brother and one sister. Survivors include: Wife: Lois Close, Clay Center, KS Son: Greg and wife Kathy Close, Clay Center, KS Son: Arlyn and Jolene Close, Clay Center, KS Sister: Connie Swenson, Clay Center, KS 5 Grandchildren and 9 Great Grandchildren Funeral Services will be held on Monday, May 6, 2013 at 10:30 AM at the First Presbyterian Church in Clay Center, Kansas . Officiating the service will be Rev. James Byers. Burial will be at the Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, Kansas. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 5 from 2-5pm at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to First Presbyterian Church c/o funeral home.
