Donna Jane Vasseur, 69, of Manhattan, Kansas died on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at her residence. She was born on May 13, 1957, in Clay Center, Kansas, the daughter of Wilburn and Charlotte (Mailen) Vasseur. Donna grew up in Eudora, Kansas where she graduated from high school in 1976.
Donna served in the U.S. Army from 1977 until 1980 as a Voice Intercept Operator, serving in South Korea. After her service, Donna worked various civil service jobs for the U.S. Government, mostly human resources. She worked at Ft. Riley for the US Army, in Topeka, Stuttgart, Germany, Portland, Oregon and for NASA at Edwards AFB, California. After retiring from her civil service career, Donna and her mother moved to Manhattan, Kansas where she worked for Walmart. She also volunteered at the Manhattan American Legion Post #17, helping with Bingo. She then became the part-time office manager for Post #17, managing all aspects of the Legion, including Bingo, the bar, and renting the Legion out to people.
Donna was a member of the Manhattan American Legion Post #17 and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was preceded in death by her mother, Charlotte and grandparents, Otis and Mary Frances Mailen.
Survived by her aunt, Mary Jane Mailen Patterson and numerous cousins
