DORIS I. KNITTER died September 10, 2009 at Clay County Medical Center, Clay Center, KS
at the age of 88. She was born on January 27, 1921 in Wells, Kansas the daughter of Stirley and
Verna (Sheely) Black. She was raised in Chapman and attended school in Dickinson County and
Geary County and graduated from Junction City High School. She worked at the Sunflower
Ammunition Plant during WWII. She married Walter Knitter, Jr. on May 31, 1946, he survives
of the home. She worked for fashion Cleaners, Cedar Court Motel and Medicalodge before
retiring in 1985. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and American Legion
Auxillary #101 where she was past-President. She is preceded in death by 6 brothers, Kenneth,
Lloyd, Harold, Benny, Leonard and Charles and 2 sisters, Faye and Marie.

Son: Rodney Knitter, Clay Center, KS
Daughter: Janice and husband Chuck Dunn, Clay Center, KS
Son: Jeff and Wife Sondy Knitter, Abilene, KS
Sister: Lola Staatz, Abilene, KS
Grandchildren: 9 grand and 13 Great-grand
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, September 14, 2009 at 10:30 AM at the United
Methodist Church in Clay Center, Kansas.
Officiating the service will be Rev Larry Myers and Rev. James Byers
Burial will be at the Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, Kansas.
Visitation will be held on 2-5 PM Sunday at the funeral home, the family will greet friends at this
time
