Dorothy N Carver died Tuesday May 17, 2011 at the Ottawa County Health Center in Minneapolis, Ks. She was born on October 3, 1918 to Edwin & Nellie Albertson Kiser at their home in rural Cloud County near Delphos, Ks. Dorothy attended Mt. Washington, a rural school, for eight years and graduated from Delphos High school in 1935. In 1937 she received her teaching certificate from Fort Hays State College. After receiving her teaching certificate she came back to Mt. Washington and taught for one year before her marriage. On June 12, 1938 she was united in marriage to O. Vern Carver of rural Miltonvale at her parent’s home. They lived for 68 years in this area. They were parents of James Vern Carver, Tampa, Fl., Sharon Carver Dean, Centennial, Co., Diane Carver McKain, and David Lee Carver both of Delphos. When all her children were in school, she returned to teaching and did substitute teaching for fifteen years in Cloud, Ottawa and Clay Counties. She enjoyed working with children and taught Sunday school and was a 4-H leader. She was also a member of the Meredith Christian Church Ladies Aid. Her family was her main joy and taking the children and grandchildren fishing was special to her. She also enjoyed traveling and the trips she and Vern took. She was a member of the Delphos Senior Citizens, the Delphos United Methodist Church, and the Delphos U.M.W. She and Vern were married for 68 years before his death on August, 29, 2006. She was also preceded in death by her parents Edwin & Nellie Kiser, her older sister Clara Eppler, and her older brother Grant Kiser. Funeral services were held on Monday May 23, 2011 at the Delphos United Church at 10:00 a.m. and she was buried in the Oakland Union Cemetery rural Miltonvale. She leaves to mourn her passing her children; James Carver, Sharon Carver Dean, Diane Carver McKain and husband Gary, David Carver and wife Jenna, her grandchildren; Deborah Anderson and husband Kurt, Timothy Carver, Cynthia Dean Vosburgh and her husband Craig, James Michael Dean, Tiffany McKain Lynch and her husband Ray, Sheila McKain Waid and her husband Jordan, Angela McKain Walters and her husband Justin, Daniel Carver and wife Mary Ann, Matthew Carver and wife Emily, and Paul Carver and wife Nichole; her great grandchildren; Dustin Anderson, Katelyn Anderson, Darby Carver, Peyton Carver, Brock Vosburgh, Zachary Vosburgh, Gretchen Vosburgh, Caleb Johnson, Benjamin Johnson, Emily Lynch, Olivia Waid, Sebastian Waid, Van Walters, Jax Walters, Elijah Carver, Zoe Carver, William Carver, Zora Carver, Nadia Carver, and Kamryn Carver. She also leaves to mourn many friends and relatives. The service was given by Rev. Dave Geisler pastor of the Delphos United Methodist Church. Pianist was Verna Davidson, Delphos, Ks. Vocalist was Tom Phelps, Miltonvale Ks. accompanied by his wife Dawn Phelps. Pallbearers were her grandsons; Kurt Anderson, Timothy Carver, Craig Vosburgh, James M. Dean, Ray Lynch, Jordan Waid, Justin Walters, Daniel Carver, Matthew Carver, and Paul Carver.
