DUANE R. MAHIN, 82 died December 31, 2013 at Salina Regional Health Center in Salina, Kansas. He was born on January 29, 1931 in Smith County, Kansas. The son of Ross and Fern (Haines) Mahin. Duane grew up in Smith County, Kansas, Webster County, Nebraska, and Longford, Kansas. He graduated from Miltonvale Wesleyan School. Duane graduated from Chanute Junior College and married Barbara Townsend on May 15, 1954. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Education from Washburn University and a Master's degree in Education from the University of Kansas. He taught and coached in Shawnee County. Duane became a Pastor with the Allegheny Wesleyan Methodist Connection and pastored in Missoula, Montana and Sacramento, California. He was the president of the Northwest Indian Bible School in Alberton, Montana from 1972-1978. He was the director of the Pioneer Supervisor World Mission from 1982-1991. He then returned to Sacramento until 2002 when he retired due to health reasons and moved to Miltonvale. He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Diane Rene Mahin, brother, Franklin Mahin and sister, Leila Cox. Survivors: Wife: Barbara Mahin, Miltonvale, Kansas Son: Duane Scott Mahin, Concordia, Kansas Son: David and wife, Diane, Miltonvale, Kansas Grandchildren: 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren Sister: Marguerite Tasker, Topeka, Kansas Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at 2:00PM at the F.C. Hill Memorial Wesleyan Church in Miltonvale, Kansas Officiating the service will be Rev. William Cope. Burial will be in the Miltonvale Cemetery, Miltonvale, KS Respect calls will be held from 5-7PM Monday at the Phelps Funeral Home, Miltonvale, Kansas. Memorials: Memorials may be made to the Allegheny Connection Peruvian Missions and can be sent in care of the Phelps Funeral Home 918 7th Street Clay Center, Kansas 67432.
