Duane Thorpe, Sr.

DUANE CARL THORPE, SR. died August 25, 2013 at his residence in Beloit, KS at the age of 80. DUANE CARL THORPE, SR. was born on June 1, 1933 in Palco, the son of Carl and Edith (Thorp) Thorpe. Duane was raised in Miltonvale. He joined the US Army in 1950. After the service, he worked in California from 1953-1957. Duane rejoined the US army in 1957 for three years. He married Clara Rose Tatro on September 18, 1957 in Fairbury, NE. In 1960 he began working for the San Bernardino Water District. Duane attended Bible College in Colorado before working as a driver and mechanic for a mining company in Arizona. Clara preceded him in death on September 11, 1999. He is also preceded in death by a brother. Survivors include: Son: Charles Thorpe, Beloit, KS Son: Duane Thorpe, Jr, Beloit, KS Daughter: Debbie and husband Gary Schroeder, Santa Fe Springs, CA Brother: Paul Thorpe, Redlands, CA Brother: Harold Thorpe, LaPine, OR Sister: Jeannie Miller, Muscatine, IA Sister: Delores Miller, Kokomo, IN 4 Grandchildren and 1 Great-grandchild Funeral Services will be held on , August 29, 2013 at at the Phelps Funeral Home in Miltonvale, Kansas. Officiating the service will be Pastor Scott Campbell. Burial will be at the Oakland Union Cemetery, Cloud County, KS. Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to the organization of the Donor's choice.
