Earnest Underwood

  EARNEST J. UNDERWOOD, 74 died March 16, 2014 at Clay County Medical Center in Clay Center, KS. He was born on March 17, 1939 in Clyde, KS. The son of Barkley and Rena (Lillie) Underwood.   Earnest attended high school in Clay Center. He joined the Navy and served for 12 years. Earnest married Joan Herrs, they later divorced. He worked as a welder for the Avondale Shipyard for many years. In 1984, he married Gertie Perez and they made their home in Lafitte, LA. Gertie preceded him in death on March 18, 2002. Earnest then worked for Jefferson Parish, managing several playgrounds. After retiring, Earnest moved to Clay Center. He is preceded in death by parents and his brother, Duane, stepsons Leo and Jerry Perez and stepson in law, Charles Matherne. Dempster, Lafitte, LA Stepdaughter: Judy and husband Donald Scioneaux, Lafitte, LA Graveside funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 10:30AM at the Greenwood Cemetery in Clay Center, KS. Officiating the service will be Pastor Richard Rikli. Burial will be in theGreenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, KS. There will be no respect calls.
