Ed Hollingshead

JAMES “ED” EDWARD HOLLINGSHEAD died November 30, 2011 at his residence in rural Clay Center, KS at the age of 90. He was born on February 22, 1921 in Florence, Alabama the son of John and Ivy May (Lawrence) Hollingshead. Ed married Ruth Hicks on June 27, 1942. They moved to Kansas City, Kansas in 1951. Ed worked as a foreman for Winn-Senter Construction for many years. They moved to a farm near Clay Center in 1987. Ruth preceded him in death on July 19, 1999. He was a member of Emmanuel Independent Baptist Church in Clay Center and Local Labor Union #1290 in Kansas City, Kansas for 38 years. Ed is also preceded in death by a son, Billie, 2 brothers, Vernon and Leon and a sister Jewel Bradberry. Survivors include: Daughter: Helen and husband Thomas Belue, Clay Center, KS Son: James and wife Diana Hollingshead, Manhattan, KS Daughter: Rhonda Hollingshead, Overland Park, KS Daughter: Rene and husband Joe Urbano, Clay Center, KS Grandchildren: 14 Grandchildren, 19 Great-grandchildren & 2 Great-great-grandchildren Funeral Services will be held on Monday, December 5, 2011 at 1:30 PM at the Emmanuel Independent Baptist Church in Clay Center, Kansas . Officiating the service will be Pastor Wilbur Schoneweis. Burial will be at the Broughton Cemetery, Clay County, Kansas. Visitation will be held on Sunday 2-5 PM at the funeral home Memorials can be made to Ed Hollingshead memorial fund c/o the funeral home
