EUGENE ALEXANDER GURIK, 71 died July 3, 2014 at his residence in Wakefield, KS. He was born on September 1, 1942 in Krasna, Russia the son of Aleksandr and Maria (Samsonova) Gurik.
Gene was a Russian interpreter for the U.S. Army from 1965-1966. In 1968, he began working as an E.E.O. Officer for the Department of Defense. His career took him from Wisconsin to Germany and then to Wakefield, Kansas until his retirement in 2002. Gene married Linda Sluyter on May 16, 1969 and she preceded him in death on October 29, 2010. He then married Pansy Beaudoin on January 25, 2013 in the Russian Orthodox tradition. Gene was a lifetime member of the V.F.W., Harley Owner's Group, the Russian Orthodox Church, NRA, and the Kansas Muzzle Loader's Association. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Wakefield Funeral Home in Wakefield, KS
Officiating the service will be Fr. Joseph Longolano
Burial will be in the Timber Creek Cemetery, Clay County, KS
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 from 10:00 AM until service time at the Wakefield Funeral Home
