Eunice Rabe

Eunice Elaine (Schone) Rabe was born on October 5, 1931, in Jacksonville, Illinois, a gift of God to her parents, Gustav and Alma (Lovekamp) Schone.  She was a graduate of Arenzville High School and a graduate of Concordia College in River Forest, Illinois.  Upon graduation, she received her call to teach at St. John’s Lutheran School in Palmer, Kansas. Eunice married Donald Rabe in 1953, and together they celebrated 65 years of marriage on May 31, 2018, with their four children.  Eunice and Don farmed in the Palmer area and later made their home in Clay Center for many years.  She was employed by the Clay Center Child Care Center and the Clay Center Carnegie Library prior to her retirement.  When her health began to fail, she and Donald moved to St. Marys, Kansas, in August 2016. God reached down and gave Eunice the final victory at the age of 86 on August 10, 2018.  She is survived by her husband Donald, of St. Marys, Kansas, and their four children:  Gary (Christie) Rabe, St, Marys, Kansas; Mark Rabe (Nancy Todhunter), Bel Aire, Kansas; Susan (David) Goldammer, Salina, Kansas; and Linda (David) Frady, Leicester, North Carolina.  Grandchildren are Kody (RD) Carlson,  Brandon (Katie) Rabe, Christopher Rabe, Nicholas Rabe, Matthew Goldammer, and Robert Frady, and five great-grandchildren. Sisters:  Maxine Becker, Hoagland,  Indiana; Donna Scroggins, Jacksonville, Illinois.  Sisters-in-law:  La Von Hornbostel, Linn, Kansas; and Lois Schone, Jacksonville, Illinois; and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Earline Roberts, and brother Robert Schone. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on August 17, 2018, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Clay Center, Kansas, with Reverend Paul Tessaro officiating.  Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. prior to the funeral at the church.  Inurnment will follow the service at Greenwood Cemetery in Clay Center.  Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Clay Center, Kansas.  Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home is assisting the family.
