Faye Maxine (Apple) Frybarger, age 102, passed away on July 20, 2026, just seven days shy of her 103rd birthday, at the Trego County Lemke Memorial Long-Term Care Unit in Wakeeney, Kansas. She was born to Charles Briggs and Bertha Bennett-Briggs- Apple in Miltonvale, Kansas, on July 27, 1923.

Faye was raised in Miltonvale and was a graduate of Miltonvale High School in 1941. She married Martin Frybarger in Concordia, Kansas on February 21, 1941. He preceded her in death in 1999. Faye worked at the St. Joseph Hospital in Concordia for a couple years. She was a pivotal part of the homestead, helping with farming and making a home for her family. Faye and Martin had a lovely orchard and garden; they loved to square dance. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, needlework and quilting. She enjoyed playing cards and even belonged to the Cottonwood Card Club. Faye was a member of the Bear Junction C.B. Club with her husband. She was known for her stock tank full of goldfish for the great grandkids to play with when they visited. She was so proud driving her John Deere tractor around the farm working the fields. Faye was a wonderful cook and even more wonderful grandmother.

Faye was preceded in death by her husband; parents; her son, Rex Paul Frybarger; one brother Vance Apple, and stepbrothers Edward and Albert Briggs.

She is survived by her granddaughters; Lisa (Terry) Kuhn, and Mary Gutierrez. Great grandchildren, John and Garrett Kuhn and Matias (Sarah) Gutierrez; daughter-in-law Patricia Frybarger Walker, several nieces and nephews, plus many special caregivers from the Trego County Lemke Memorial Long Term Care Unit.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, July 24, 2026, at Phelps Funeral Home, Miltonvale, KS.

Burial will take place at the Oakland Union Cemetery, Cloud County, KS

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Trego County Lemke Memorial Long Term Care Unit and left in care of the Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home. 918 7th Street, Clay Center, KS 67432.
