Forrest Shivers

FORREST DWIGHT SHIVERS died October 30, 2013 at Medicalodge, Clay Center, KS at the age of 89. He was born on July 7, 1924 in Clay County Kansas, the son of Wilmer and Minnie (Siemers) Shivers. Forrest attended school in Clay County. He married Gladys Bletcher on April 30, 1950. They farmed in Union Township near Wakefield. He also drove a school bus for USD #379 for 25 years. Forrest is preceded in death by a sister, 2 brothers, a great- granddaughter and a great-grandson. He is a former member of the Christian Church in Wakefield. Survivors include: Wife: Gladys Shivers, Clay Center, KS Daughter: Dolores Burchett, Clay Center, KS Son: Lanny and wife Joyce Shivers, Clay Center, KS Daughter: Janet and husband Dowell Burchett, Longford, KS Son: Ken and wife Beverly Shivers, Clay Center, KS Son: Robert Shivers, Clay Center, KS 10 Grandchildren and 15 Great-Grandchildren Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 10:00 AM at the Neill-Schwensen-Rook Chapel in Clay Center, Kansas. Officiating the service will be Pastor Matthew Coleman. Burial will be at the Greenridge Cemetery, Dickinson County, Kansas. Visitation will be held on 3-8 PM Friday at the funeral home Memorials can be made to Forrest Shivers Memorial Fund to be designated later c/o the funeral home
