FRANK PALMATEER died December 4, 2010 at Sedgwick Healtcare, Sedgwick, KS at the
age of 86. He was born on August 7, 1924 in Manchester, KS the son of Robert Palmateer and
Agnes Heigle. Frank was raised in the Industry and Longford communities and graduated from
Talmage High School in 1942. He farmed in the Industry, Talmage and Solomon areas for 2
years before serving in the Army from 1944 to 1947. Frank married Shirley Kopher on October
9, 1947. Following WWII, he farmed for six years and operated a restaurant in Longford for
eight months. They moved to California where Frank worked for Rockadyne in California doing
research and development on the Apollo rocket engines from 1953 until they returned to Kansas
in 1968. He then worked as a carpenter for Maurice Sharp construction and then at the
Wakefield CO-OP from 1978 to 1988. Shirley preceded him in death on January 9, 2005. Frank
was a member of the Madura Congregational Church, where he served as an elder and a 60 year
member of the Clay Center Masonic Lodge. He is also preceded in death by a sister, Belle
Chaffee and two brothers George and Charlie.

Grandchildren: 2 Grandchildren
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, December 9, 2010 at 10:00 AM at the Madura
Congregational Church in Wakefield, Kansas.
Officiating the service will be Rev. Todd Britt.
Burial will be at the Rose Meron Cemetery, Clay County, Kansas.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, 5-7 PM at the Wakefield Funeral Home
