FRED JOHN URBAN died February 10, 2012 at Clay County Medical Center, Clay
Center, KS at the age of 91. FRED JOHN URBAN was born on February 22, 1920 in Cloud
County, KS the son of John Urban and Mary Gunter.
Fred moved to Clay County with his family in 1924 near Morganville. He graduated from
Morganville Rural High School in 1939. We was a WWII Army Air Corp Veteran. He farmed
for 30 years and then worked for USD 379 as Transportation Director for 22 years, retiring in
1987. He was a member of the Morganville City Council for many years, SS. Peter and Paul
Catholic Church, where he served on the church council, American Legion and V.F.W. of Clay
Center. B.P.O.E. and Moose Lodge of Concordia. He is preceded by his parents, 2 brothers, 1 sister and Step
Father Jake Lewis.

Son: Gary and wife Toni Urban, Waco, TX
Son: Michael and wife Monica Urban, Morganville, KS
Grandchildren: 8 Grandchildren, 4 Step Grandchildren 7 Great Grandchildren and 3 Step Great
Grandchildren
Sister: Scharlotte and husband Joe Knitter, Clay Center, KS
Brother: Clarence and wife Marge Urban, Clay Center, KS
Brother: Chuck and wife Marlene Urban, Berryton, KS
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at 10:30 AM at the SS.
Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Clay Center, Kansas .
Officiating the service will be Father Larry Grennan.
Burial will be at the Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center Kansas
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 13 from 3-7pm with a Rosary at 7pm at the funeral
home.
