Galen grew up in the Vining and Clifton communities and attended the Clifton Schools graduating in 1969. He married JoDee Branfort on June 12, 1971. They were the proud parents of 2 sons.

Galen loved growing up in Clifton. He had so many wonderful memories of his family and friends throughout his life. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, baseball and football and was very much looking forward to the upcoming season of football. Galen played football for Clifton High School and baseball for the Clifton Cardinals. He later coached the Cardinals from the Peewee to Legion teams. He loved being around the kids.

He was a member of the Faith United Church, Clifton JayCees, Clifton SAL, served on the cemetery board for Pleasant View Cemetery and was a member of the Masons.
