Gary Marmon Oetinger died peacefully on March 15, 2021. He was born August 12, 1938 in Clay Center, Kansas to George F and Geneva (Marmon) Oetinger. He was the youngest of their two sons, including R Rex. He attended Morganville schools, graduating from Morganville Rural High School. He attended Kansas State University for two years, transferring to Kansas State Teachers College and graduating with a B.S. degree in Business Management in 1960.

He worked in the insurance industry for many years, traveling to many parts of the country. He worked his way up with a couple of large companies and later worked as an independent insurance appraiser and adjuster. He returned to Morganville in 1988 to care for his parents.

He turned his life over to the Lord in 1973 and became interested in ministry. He taught Sunday School, Bible classes and filled the pulpit in Harrison, MO, Kansas City, MO, Olathe, KS and several churches in and around Clay County.

He served in several positions on the Morganville UMC administration board, was President of the Advisory Board of the Flint Hills Christian School in Green and conducted chapel services there. He also served as President of the Morganville High School Alumni Association.

He enjoyed teaching himself to play the guitar and particularly enjoyed four part harmony southern gospel music. In his younger days, he was an avid bass fisherman and water skier.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents and his brother. He is survived by his nephew Mark Oetinger, his niece Cyndi (Terry) Bunch, grandnieces Kelly (Jef) Snider and Megan (Scott) Frieling, great grandniece Bailey Snider and great grandnephew Samuel Snider.

Memorial services will be at 11:30 AM Saturday May 22, 2021 at the Morganville United Methodist Church. Covid19 precautions are requested, please wear masks.

Gary requested memorials to the Green Christian School or Morganville UMC c/o the funeral home.
