Gary Gene Quillin, age 89, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, on January 22, 2025, in Clay Center, Kansas. Born January 18, 1936, in Portis, Kansas, the son of George and Vera (McIlvain) Quillin. Gary grew up in Downs and attended Downs school district. He was a graduate of Downs High School in 1954. Gary married Marlene Robinson in a small rural church in Tipton, Kansas on March 28, 1959. The couple made their home in Clay Center in 1964. He worked for Gilmore-Tatge before devoting over 15 years as a salesman for Wardcraft Homes. Gary retired from Wardcraft but continued to drive a school bus for the local district. He enjoyed fishing, mowing, gardening, playing the accordion and puttering in his north garage. He had his pilot’s license and worked on fiberglass boats in his spare time. Gary loved dogs and raised white German Shepherds for many years. He was a member of the Elks and Jaycees and a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Gary was a jokester but loved his family. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He is preceded in death by his parents

Funeral Services: Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 10:30AM at the St Paul's Lutheran Church in Clay Center, KS
Burial: Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, Kansas
Visitation: Friday, January 24, 2025, from 5-7PM at Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home
Memorials: Can be made to CCARE, Meadowlark Hospice or the Lighthouse for Christ c/o the funeral home
