GENE ARPIN died May 21, 2012 at Clay County Medical Center, Clay Center, KS at the age of 80. He was born on August 13, 1931 in Clyde, Kansas the son of Ronald Arpin and Laura Ericson. Gene was raised in Clyde, Kansas. He received his Masters degree from Kansas State University. He married Sue Empson on November 18, 1953 and she survives of the home. He was a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War. He taught in country schools then taught in Clifton, Kansas. He became an administrator for Clay Center USD #379 in 1968 and was principal in the Green, Morganville, Garfield and McKinley schools until retiring in 1993. He was a member of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Clay County Historical Society, VFW, the BonFire Busters camping club all and a Scout Leader. Survivors include: Wife: Sue Arpin, Clay Center, KS Daughter: Linda and husband Randy Willoughby, Minneapolis, KS Son: Mike and wife Garyla Arpin, Coffeyville, KS Daughter: Peggy Arpin, Clay Center, KS Grandchildren: 7 grand and 6 great-grandchildren Sister: Marie Marcotte, Hutchinson, KS Sister: JoAnn Simpson, Smith Center, KS Brother: Bob and wife Ruth Arpin, Hutchinson, KS Brother: Jerry and wife Carolyn Arpin, Hutchinson, KS Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, May 24, 2012 at 10:30AM at the SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Clay Center, Kansas. Officiating the service will be Father Larry Grennan. Burial will be at 2:00 PM Thursday at the Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Clyde, Kansas. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 23rd from 3:00 to 7:00pm with the family greeting friends from 5-7 PM Rosary will be recited at 7:00pm at the funeral home Memorials can be made to Gene Arpin Scholarship Fund c/o the funeral home
