Gene Dodds

WILLARD EUGENE “Gene” DODDS died May 11, 2013 at his residence in Clay Center, Kansas at the age of 90. Gene was born on September 27, 1922 in Riley County, Kansas, the son of Jesse Ralph Dodds and Della Marie Shaner. Gene was raised in the Wakefield area and graduated from Wakefield High School. He married Bertha James on May 31, 1947. They farmed and operated a dairy near Green, KS until they moved to Clay Center in 1993. Bertha preceded Gene in death on September 27, 2007. Gene was a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church, the Milk Producers Association and a 4-H leader. He is also preceded in death by 4 sisters and 2 brothers Survivors include: Daughter: Diana and husband Finis Shaner, Green, KS Son: Bruce and wife Barbara Dodds, Clay Center, KS Daughter: Wanda and husband Gary Gunn, Presson, TX Son: Phillip and wife Carolyn Dodds, Green, KS Sister: Hazel Hill, Topeka, KS Brother: Ira Dodds, Lebo, KS Brother: Ivan Dodds, Butler, MO 5 Grandchildren and 8 Great-grandchildren Special Friend: Marjorie Sanneman, Clay Center, KS Funeral Services will be held on Friday, May 17, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Clay Center, Kansas. Officiating the service will be Rev Grant Clay. Burial will be at a later date in Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, Kansas.
