GEORGE D. JOHNSON, 91 died June 2, 2012 at the Clay County Medical Center, Clay Center, KS. He was born November 13, 1920 in Clay Center,Kansas the son of George and Myra (Tripp)Johnson. George D. grew up in Clay Center. He served in the U.S. Navy as a Sea Bee from 1942 until 1945. He married Mary Ann Craig on January 1, 1944 and she preceded him in death on May 6, 1995. They made their home and raised their family in Oxnard, CA for many years. George D. was a Planner and Estimator for the Civil Service at Pt. Mugu until retiring in 1977. He moved back to Clay Center in the early 1990s. He was a member of the Clay Center Masonic Lodge, Isis Shrine, and the Clay Center American Legion. His brother, Richard preceded him in death in 1985. Survivors: Son: Craig Johnson, Oxnard, CA Daughter: Lynnelle Kummelehne, Bandon, OR Grandchildren: Four Granddaughters, one Great-Granddaughter and four Step-Great-Grandchildren Companion: Roma Smith, Clay Center, KS Nephew/friend Steve Johnson, Clay Center, KS Celebration of Life services will be 5:30 PM Thursday, June 7 at the Clay Center American Legion, 816 5th St., Clay Center KS Visitation: 3-8 PM Wednesday, June 6 at the funeral home Memorials: to the Wounded Warriors or the Clay Center American Legion c/o the funeral home.
