George was raised in Clay County north of Green, KS on the family farm in the Goshen Township. He was baptized and confirmed in the Wesley Chapel
Church near Green. He married Helen Lippert on March 21, 1937 in Keats and
they settled in the Peach Grove community in Riley County before moving to
the Leonardville area where George farmed and worked as a union carpenter.
He continued those careers when the family moved to Clay Center in 1961.
Helen preceded him in death in 1999.
George was a member of the First
Presbyterian Church, Riley County Farm Bureau, President of the local
carpenter’s union and volunteered for Meals on Wheels. He is also
preceded by his parents and a brother, John.

He took great pride in his great-grandchildren: Katie, Maggie and Jonathan
Horton; Olivia and Jack Ryan; Ryan Abplanalp; Ethan Croom

Funeral Services: Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at 10:30 AM at the First
Presbyterian Church in Clay Center, Kansas.
Officiating the service will be the Rev. James Byers.
Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, Kansas.
Visitation will be held from 3-8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church or Leonardville Nursing Home c/o the
funeral home.
