GRETCHEN MARIE KING, 91 died September 24, 2007 at Clay County Medical Center, Clay Center, KS. She was born 15, 1916 in Clay Center,KS the daughter of Bert and Elsie (Meier) Downing, Sr. She was raised in Clay County, Kansas. She married Hilton King on July 26, 1935 and he preceded her in death on April 11, 1983. After her husband's death she was a housemother for the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity at Kansas State University for 10 years. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church and the B.P.O.E. both of Clay Center. She was also preceded by a son George King, 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Survivors: Daughter: Nancy Jo and husband Don Doberer, Clay Center, KS Daughter: Dixie and husband Arlo Schurle, Austin, TX Grandchildren: 5 grand and 5 great-grand Graveside Services: Saturday,September 29, 2007 at 11:00 AM at the Greenwood Cemetery in Clay Center, Kansas. Minister: The Rev. Susan Sawyer Burial: Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, KS. Visitation:Friday, September 28th from 3:00 to 8:00pm at the funeral home. The family will greet friends from 4-6 PM.
