HARLAN DETTMER died November 10, 2011 at Mercy Regional Health Center, Manhattan, KS at the age of 80. Harlan was born on July 9, 1931 in Randolph, Kansas the son of Frank H. and Una (Wohler) Dettmer. Harlan was raised in the Fancy Creek area. He was a member of the Fancy Creek United Methodist Church as a young man. He farmed and worked for Gambles, Gilmore-Tatge, and for the City of Clay Center until retiring in 1996. Harlan was an active member of the Clay Center United Methodist Church. He enjoyed walking his dog, Tug, tending to his flowers, talking with his friends and cousins, and watching sports. He was preceded in death by his wife, Velda; his parents; and his brother Robert. Survivors include: Nephew: Ronnie Dettmer, Kansas City, MO Niece: Connie Wright, Peoria, AZ Cousin: Orpha Carlson, Wichita, KS Cousin: Marilyn Ballard, Kansas City, Mo Cousin: Orlin Oehler, Surprise, AZ Cousin: Verla Long, Kansas City, MO Cousin: Jim Coltharp, Canyon City, CO Cousin: Sandra Nenstiel, Las Vegas, NV Cousin: Dorene Foster, Bend, OR Cousin: Jared Nenstiel, Indialantic, FL Sister-In-Law: Adelma Dettmer, Peoria, AZ Graveside Funeral Services will be held on Monday, November 14, 2011 at 10:30 AM at the Greenwood Cemetery in Clay Center, Kansas. Officiating the service will be Pastor Paul Tessaro. Burial will be at the Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, Kansas. Visitation will be held on will be held from 9-10AM, Monday, November 14, 2011 at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to may be made to the Clay Center United Methodist Church and sent in care of the funeral home.
