HARVEY DEAN BENSON died May 5, 2013 at Presbyterian Manor, Clay Center, KS at
the age of 79. Harvey was born on August 16, 1933 in Clay County, Kansas, the son of Arthur Wallace
and Jean (Rundle) Benson.
Harvey graduated from CCCHS in 1951. He attended KSU and received a Bachelor's of
Science degree in Agricultural Engineering in 1955. Harvey married Martha L. Watson on
December 26, 1954. Upon graduation, Harvey joined the U.S. Air Force. He earned a Bachelor's
Degree in Meteorology from Penn State while he was stationed near Bellefonte, PA. and was
transferred to Harmon Air Force Base in New Foundland as a meteorologist until 1960. Harvey
returned to Clay County to farm until 1983. He then worked for Landoll in Marysville, KS as a
manager of engineering and quality assurance. While in Marysville, he was an active member of
the Berean Church and the Marysville Kiwanis Club. After retirement, he returned to Clay
Center and worked for Keeott Farms for 8 years. Harvey was a member of the Clay Center
Evangelical Covenant Church. He held a state office with Gideon's International and he was also
a lay pastor for the Four Mile Presbyterian Church. Harvey served on the Hayes
Township Board and the Hayes Rural Fire Department. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Arthur Benson.

8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren
Sister: Evelyn Larson, Randolph, KS
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at 10:00 AM at the Evangelical
Covenant Church in Clay Center, Kansas.
Officiating the service will be Rev. Grant Clay and Rev. David McCowan.
Burial will be at the Republican City , Clay County, Kansas.
Visitation will be held on will be held from 3-8 PM at the funeral home on Friday, May 17, 2013.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gideon's International or to the Clay Center
Evangelical Covenant Church and can be sent in care of the funeral home.
