Hazel Katharina Gill, age 102, died September 30, 2024, at the Linn Community Nursing Home in Linn, KS. She was born in the Garfield Township, rural Clay County, on September 26, 1922, to August and Engle (Kucks) Kahrs. Hazel attended the Ross School until the 8th grade. She married Fredrick Gill on September 26, 1938, they shared 70 wonderful years together. They started their marriage in Clyde, KS, on a family farm. After their small cabin caught fire, they moved to a home in between Clyde and Vining, later moving to Clifton, where she resided for over 80 years. Hazel worked as a certified nurse’s assistant for 25 years at Estelles Nursing Home in Clifton. She was a former president of the Clifton Ladies Auxiliary and was extremely active in church. Hazel was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Palmer, KS. Among assisting with numerous activities in the church she would spend many hours making quilts and baby clothes as well as boxing up care packages to send the deployed soldiers. Hazel had a knack for gardening and growing flowers. She loved to travel with her husband and play bingo. Hazel was loved by everyone she met. She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; sons: Raymond and Merrill "Dean"; grandson, Gary Gill; brothers: John, Elmer, Glen and Vern; sisters: VeRona, and Gladys.

11 Grandchildren, Jim Johnston, Terri (Don) Grede, Cindy Cupelli, Wade (Rebecca) Johnston, Addelaine (Ricky) Duke, Morgan (Austin) Marshall, Dr. Kasey (Rebekah) Gill, Patrick (Zephyr) Gill, Kelly, Tia and Ethan Gill; 16 Great Grandchildren and 8 Great-Great Grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at 10:30 AM at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Palmer, Kansas.
Interment will be in the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Palmer, Kansas.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 4, 2024 from 5-7 PM at Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home, Clay Center, Kansas.
Memorials can be made to the St. Paul Lutheran Church or Meadowlark Hospice c/o the funeral home.
