Helen Abels

HELEN LUCILLE ABELS died December 19, 2009 at Presbyterian Manor, Clay Center, KS at the age of 89. She was born on January 17, 1920 in Clay Center, Kansas the daughter of Ernest and Lizzie (Mickelson) Oberg. She was raised in Clay Center and graduated from Clay County Community High School in 1937. She worked at Duckwalls before becoming a dental assistant for Dr. Floyd Nelson. Helen later worked as the Clay Center assistant City Clerk and then City Clerk before marrying Wilfred Abels on November 3, 1948. She was a member of the United Methodist Church where she served as secretary and treasurer for several years. Survivors include: Husband: Wilfred Abels, Clay Center, KS 2 nieces and 2 nephews Graveside Services will be held on Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at 10:00 AM at the Idana Cemetery in Idana, Kansas. Officiating the service will be Rev. Larry Myers. Burial will be at the Idana Cemetery, Idana, Kansas. There will be no visitation Memorials can be made to the Clay Center United Methodist Church or the Clay County Historical Society c/o the funeral home
