HELEN MYERS, 95 died April 21, 2015 at Valley View Senior Life in Junction City, KS. She was born on September 7, 1919 in Clay Center, KS, the daughter of Benjamin and Josephine (Sherbert) Nye.
Helen was raised in the Bethany community until she moved to Wakefield with her family in 1927. She graduated from Wakefield High School in 1938. Helen taught school for two years at Upper Lincoln country school. On April 11, 1941 she married Raymond Myers. Helen worked at Beech Aircraft in Wichita as a "Rosie the Riveter" while her husband served in WWII. Following the war, they returned to Wakefield and Helen worked at the grocery store and at the Wakefield Post Office until her retirement in 1986. Raymond preceded her in death on May 2, 1989. Helen was a member of the Wakefield United Methodist Church, Library Club, founding member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary #7774, Wakefield Friendship Meal and Clay County Task Force Board. She is preceded in death by her parents, infant son, Gary, daughter, Gayla Ro and three sisters, Vera Nicholson, Marian Billingham and Dorothy Campbell-Caylor

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 24, 2015 at 10:30 AM at the Wakefield United Methodist Church in Wakefield, KS
Officiating the service will be Rev. Will Kenyon
Burial will be in Timber Creek Cemetery, Wakefield, KS
